How much does it cost to start Natori Jiu Jitsu?

It’s free to start! Every prospective student is welcome to attend up to two complimentary classes. After that, enrollment is required to continue training. Full pricing details are available here.

What should I wear and bring to my first class?

New students should arrive 10 minutes early and bring workout appropriate clothing (avoid cotton shirts, as they retain moisture) and water. Mouth guards are highly encouraged (boil-and-bite) but not required. Youth Students (under 18) must show up to their first class with a parent or guardian.

Can I observe classes at Natori Jiu Jitsu if I’m not a member?

Yes, non-members are welcome to observe any Adult Class. To observe a Kids Jiu Jitsu Class, you must be a parent, guardian, or immediate family member of a participating student. Observation of the Ladies Jiu Jitsu Class is reserved for women and children only, in order to maintain a respectful and supportive training environment.

Do I need an active LifeTime membership to enroll at Natori Jiu Jitsu?

No, you do not need to have an active membership at LifeTime to enroll at Natori Jiu Jitsu. However, LifeTime members are eligible for a $25 discount per month at Natori Jiu Jitsu.

Do Natori Jiu Jitsu members receive a discount on their LifeTime membership?

Yes, they do! Natori Jiu Jitsu members are eligible for a $25 discount on their LifeTime membership.

My family member is a LifeTime member, but I’m not. Can I still receive the LifeTime discount?

No, the LifeTime discount is only available to individuals who are actively enrolled in both LifeTime and Natori Jiu Jitsu. The discount is intended to support and encourage dual membership.

Are beginners welcome at Natori Jiu Jitsu?

Yes! Students aged 13+ are encouraged to attend the Fundamentals Class. Female beginners (13+) may also attend the Ladies Jiu Jitsu Class. Kids 5-13 may attend the Kids Class.

Can 13-year-olds attend both the adult and kid classes?

Yes!

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art that focuses on ground fighting, submissions, and positional control. It emphasizes technique and leverage, allowing a smaller person to defend against and overcome a larger opponent. Practitioners learn how to apply throws, joint locks, chokes, and escapes, with a strong emphasis on live sparring (“rolling/randori”) to develop real-world skills.

BJJ is both a self-defense system and a competitive sport, known for its effectiveness, adaptability, and deep strategic layers. Whether you’re training for fitness, confidence, or competition, BJJ offers a lifelong path of growth and challenge.

What is the Fundamentals Class?

Fundamentals classes are beginner friendly and focus on essential techniques and concepts. These classes focus heavily on self-defense.

What is the All-Levels Class?

All Levels Classes will cater to both beginner and advanced level students. There are no restrictions on attending.

What is the Ladies Jiu Jitsu Class?

This is an All Levels Class for women (13+) that will cater to both beginner and advanced level students.

What is the Advanced Class?

The Advanced Class is restricted to students ranked with at least 1 stripe on their white belt. This class is designed to teach students how to defeat Black Belt (or Expert) Grapplers.

Can I attend the Advanced Class if I am a grappler from another style (Ex: Wrestling, Judo, MMA or Sambo) but do not hold a rank in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Probably yes, ask the instructor for permission.

What is Randori?

Randori is full contact sparring, also known as “rolling.” You must be ranked to at least white belt with 1 stripe to attend randori.

How do I cancel my Natori Jiu Jitsu membership?

Canceling membership is easy. Please email natorijiujitsu@gmail.com with the subject “Cancel Membership” in the subject line. In the body of the email, please specify the full name of the member this applies to and provide an effective date (if future dated). We may follow up to confirm your identity and relationship to the student before we finalize. We recommend using the email address assigned to the account.

I didn’t attend class last month. Can I get a refund?

Natori Jiu Jitsu memberships are billed in advance to reserve your spot and support consistent academy operations. While we understand that life gets busy, missed classes do not qualify for refunds under our current policy.
